Recently I have been looking to upgrade my makeup routine. And by “upgrade” I really mean “start” because I have been rocking the au naturale look for a while now. I am intimidated by makeup, so I go bare faced rather than walk around with the wrong foundation shade. I am also careful about the products I use, and look for nontoxic, vegan products whenever possible. I decided to take a trip into the city to Credo Beauty (9 Prince Street), and brought along Little Hoboken’s resident beauty expert, Amanda Mayr.
We were both super impressed by the selection and aesthetic at the store. Credo is committed to clean beauty with an emphasis on natural ingredients. They have a nice selection ranging from makeup to skin care and body products.
I went in looking for something to even out my skin tone and provide full coverage. Amanda suggested a BB cream, and after some deliberation we found this one by W3LL People. I was really surprised at how light it felt, while providing the coverage I was looking for. It is made with coconut, broccoli seed oil, and organic pomegranate.
Once I had that on, I decided I wanted to add a little bit of color (but not too much!). Amanda helped me find an all over color pot by Rituel de Fille in the color “lovesick” to add to my eyes, lips and cheeks. For a makeup novice like me, this all-in-one product is totally perfect!
Lastly, when I shared that I was concerned about some lines on my face, we were directed to the Pai brand Rosehip oil which I now use nightly. This brand also has a baby-safe line called Petite Pai!
Credo is a great place for busy moms to stop in and find clean beauty products. If you aren’t able to bring your own beauty guru, like I did, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful! You can also make an appointment for “clean swaps” and find natural alternatives for all your favorite beauty products.
