Let’s talk about periods.
With pregnancy and breastfeeding, I (like many women) didn’t have a period for almost 2 years. I must say, it was lovely. When I got my period after such a long hiatus, I felt like a teenager again. I spent an embarrassing amount of time browsing tampon aisles and deep dive Google searches into the safest tampon brands with organic ingredients.
Eventually I realized it was time to try out the menstrual cup - something a lot of my wellness friends had already been using for awhile. Once I tried it, I never looked back. Here are the top benefits I found of using a menstrual cup:
It’s easy. Seriously! You clean it, insert it, wash it and repeat. I’ll admit I was a little nervous the first time I used it, but once I got the hang of it, it was NBD.
You can leave it in for up to 12 hours with no leaks. You can sleep in it comfortably and wake up to clean sheets and PJs.
It makes me feel like a Green goddess. Tampons and pads create SO much waste. Using this one little cup leaves only a one-time cardboard box in the trash, compared to the boxes and boxes of individually wrapped tampons and pads.
Speaking of green - it’s a one time purchase, saving you money!
No BPA, dyes, additives or scents. (Seriously who decided pads need a scent?!)
There are tons of brands to try - I like the Diva Cup listed here. I’m never going back!
