CBD (cannabidoil) is being recommended in every mom Facebook group - for everything from sleep to ADHD. But what is it, and who can really benefit from it?
CBD is a derivative of cannabis but does not contain THC. This is why it’s easily available for purchase online and in stores. It does not have an hallucinogenic effect. You can find it in liquid and even gummy form! I also had a delicious CBD latte in Brooklyn, but don’t suggest this as a way to start a busy day.

CBD is said to be similar to our own natural body chemicals which is why it may have better effects than synthetic drugs. I highly suggest talking to your doctor and doing some of your own research before starting a CBD regimen - and I personally wouldn’t advocate for it while pregnant or nursing.
Okay but what does it DO?
I started taking CBD once a day before bedtime to help with sleep and anxiety. I found that unlike other natural sleep aides, it did not leave me feeling groggy and was a helpful addition in anxiety management techniques.
Other common uses for CBD include seasonal affective disorder, epilepsy, insomnia, chronic pain management, and improving mood disorders.
